Similarly, it is asked, why is my Briggs and Stratton backfiring? Put a clean small screwdriver into the spark plug opening so you can tell when the piston is at the top of the stroke. Remove the spark plug(s) from the engine. Having timing that is too late (retarded) can cause this same thing sometimes if your engine is running too rich.Īdditionally, what causes a small engine to backfire through the carburetor? Usually when the engine backfires through the carburetor when starting, something is wrong in the valve and rocker arm area. A sticky or burned exhaust valve can also cause some backfiring out the exhaust. " Backfiring" is usually caused by a spark plug "sparking" when it isn't its turn and the exhaust valve is open. Just so, what causes an engine to backfire through the exhaust? The second issue could be incorrect timing (this could be about the valve or the spark) and the third issue that could be causing the backfire is the inlet valve not seating correctly.

Don't get me wrong I love the overall build of this Snowblower I just wish it had more features for the price. I'm a 49 yr old in great shape but wrestling this machine when working close to the obstacles becomes back breaking. My last two snowblowers were Cub Cadets and they both had trigger controls to stop drive to one side or the other in order to steer the machine along. I can't believe between the price paid and the technology Honda has that they could not have designed this with independent steering. My biggest complaint is that it's not the easiest to move around. This unit is super quiet and seams to be built like a tank. I own two other honda products (mower and weed eater) which I love.

I purchased this snowblower based on the Honda reputation of durability and dependability.
